I have been teaching saxophone and flute for many years in both individual and group settings to students of all levels, ages and diverse backgrounds, literally from all around the world.

I am fortunate to have studied with master saxophone instructor Joe Allard and other renowned teachers.  They have provided me with many successful methods to help my students develop mastery of their instrument that leads to limitless creative expression and joy.

I believe that technical skill and musical intuition are linked and can be strengthened systematically over time with personalized warmups, exercises, and mental strategies.

Simply put, the more you control your instrument and get in touch with your “musical mind” the more likely you will be successful in expressing yourself in any musical setting - whether you are reading or improvising.

I’m a firm believer in maximizing the effectiveness, quality and organization of my students’ practice time. I have developed a Practice Journal that includes practicing tips from top musicians that are very useful for this purpose.

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY...

Lessons

I offer private and group lessons in my home studio in Scituate, MA and online using personalized websites, email correspondence and Skype for remote “one-on-one” lessons.

Each student who subscribes to online lessons receives a password to access video lessons based on specific topics and email/Skype  info.

Cost and scheduling for lessons are determined on an individual basis.

Lessons are customized to the level/ability and goals of each student. I have had extensive experience teaching students of all ages, including adults.

Besides using traditional methodology, such as warmups, exercises, transcriptions, etc,  I incorporate multi-media and web-based instruction that I have used at Berklee College to accelerate learning.

Topics include Warmups for Tone and Dexterity, Diatonic/Chromatic Exercises that combine Technique and Theory for Improvisation, Joe Allard-based Exercises for Flexibility and Technique, Overtone exercises, Harmonics, Be-Bop patterns, Solo Approaches/Strategies, Super Triads, Super Scales, etc
